as you may have seen on instagram, last weekend i went to miami for a friend’s bachelorette party. i wasn’t in the bridal party but she invited me and i jumped at the chance to travel. we stayed at the fontainebleau hotel and really lucked out with the weather, or so i thought (more on that later* see below images). at first i was nervous about staying at the hotel since it is known for its pool parties and i was hoping to do more relaxing (at least during the day) but it was actually a very pleasant experience. we ended up hanging out by the main hotel pool which had a lot of people lounging around but it wasn’t overly crowded. we only visited the “party pool” once and left after 5 minutes, which was perfect for me haha. the first night it was just myself and 2 of my best friends (the other girls were flying in that night) and went to the restaurant cleo which was recommended to me by a friend. the atmosphere was good and my friends enjoyed their meals but to be completely honest, my food was way too salty. probably won’t be going back there.
the next night we went to dinner at prime 112 which i had been to before. the food there does not disappoint. i was actually going to eat meat (shocker, i know!) until my friend and i couldn’t agree on how we wanted the steak cooked. she likes it rare while i need it to be almost well done (no red/raw meat for me!). so i ended up getting a delicious sea bass (was very happy with my choice!). after dinner it was still pretty early so we went to baoli which turned out to be really fun. it’s a restaurant with a outdoor area in the back and they play a fun mix of music- anything from ace of base to spanish music to hip hop. after that we went next door to the club, ora. in all honesty the music wasn’t great and luckily we were at a table because our feet were starting to hurt (i’m sure you know what i’m talking about!) and so we left after a short time.
after another great pool and sun day (literally on sunday hah [corny joke, moving on]) we went to kiki on the river. this is actually a new place that opened about 2 months ago and is known for their “fun sundays”. we thought it may be something like bagatelle in nyc but it was better! it’s an open area on the river (duh!) and has fun music playing along with great food! the food is also pretty reasonable too. my friend and i split a greek salad and lobster pasta dish (still dreaming about it!). i highly recommend going there if you are in miami!
i thank my friends for putting up with me and taking so many photos of me (love you girls!) so that you may see my mini adventure. enjoy! xx Vee

*back to my little note about the weather. let me tell you about my traumatizing adventure home! my flight going home was supposed to leave miami at 7pm and arrive in nyc around 10:30. this is normally a 2.5-3 hour trip and yet it ended up taking me around 23 hours!
so when we woke up on monday it was starting to rain in miami and then storms were predicted in nyc for the evening. we were able to have our flight changed to a 12:30pm one thinking we would beat the nyc storm. we are at the gate about the board when the flight gets cancelled! la guardia airport in nyc started cancelling flights even though it was still sunny there! so then my friend and i (it was just 2 of us at this point) get on a stand-by at 1:30pm (yay right!?, no!). everyone boards the plane and we then sit on the tarmac for over an hour. finally we fly out and hover over jfk for an hour and half because jfk wasn’t allowing flights in or out. our pilot can’t hover anymore because we need fuel so he decides to fly us to boston! once we get to boston they have no information for us for an hour and then finally announce the plane is flying back to nyc at 7:30am the next morning. 12 hours away! my friend and i look at our options- trains and buses are delayed- can’t do that, we’re tired and would hit the storm if we rented a car and drove- can’t do that, hotels are either booked or around $350 a night- ridiculous but it’s an option, or we can sleep at the airport. neither of the last two sound appealing. then my friend texts a girl she knows through a friend and she offers to let us stay with her! honestly she saved us! i am so thankful this person, this stranger, opened up her home to us because we were able to shower and get a few hours of sleep in without spending a fortune. i hope karma visits her in the best way!
oh! finally made it to nyc the next morning, was 3 hours late to work and so exhausted and now i’m sick =/ probably all those germs on the plane and lack of sleep. hmmh! butttt it won’t stop me from traveling again haha =)
